BUCYRUS - The Community Foundation for Crawford County holds annual match day on #GivingTuesday, the National Movement to Celebrate Generosity and to Give.

The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, just as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days synonymous with holiday shopping. During only its third year in 2014, #GivingTuesday trended on Twitter 11 hours and $35 million of the total $45.68 million raised was raised on line.

The Community foundation is inviting Crawford County to join a virtual party today.

Visit https://tcf4cc.givecorps.com/, on this site, you can create a personal fundraising page and use the templates provided to email your contacts for donations, or post the request on Facebook. On that date, the Foundation’s Board has agreed to match up to $25,000 to the agencies, schools and scholarship funds for whom the dollars are being raised.

Justin McMullen, Foundation Board member and Chair of their Development Committee, also noted the simplicity and ease of participating. “We are all in touch with old friends and classmates who are from Crawford County but don’t reside here anymore. What better potential pool of donors for us all to ask to give back to Crawford County, the community that raised them?”

In addition to social media, collection sites for checks and cash will be set up all day at the Foundation’s office at 254 E. Mansfield Street. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cranberry Hills Grill & Pub, 5965 Ohio103, New Washington; Kroger’s at 210 E Mary Street; Geyer’s, 230 Portland Way North, Galion; and the Crestline Library, 24105 Lake Gregory Drive. McMullen added that any checks need to be dated December 1st in order to count towards Match Day.
