Man crashes vehicle, strikes building

LANCASTER — A 23-year-old man was flown to a Columbus hospital after he lost control of his sport utility vehicle and crashed into a utility pole and into the side of an East Main Street building around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Eric M. Gossel, of Lancaster, was taken to Fairfield Medical Center with incapacitating injuries and immediately transported to Grant Medical Center. According to the crash report, Gossel was traveling westbound on East Main Street when he drove off the right side of the road and crashed into a pole and the building at 531 E. Main St.

Gossel reportedly struck the southwest corner of the building, breaking the glass windows/framing and brick support column of the building.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected, according to the crash report.

Gossel was in stable condition Wednesday morning, according to hospital officials.
