Thanksgiving fatal crash trial moved

Staff report

FREMONT – The trial for a man charged with causing a fiery fatal crash on Thanksgiving 2013 on the Ohio Turnpike has been postponed.

Andrew Gans, 26, who is being treated at a Toledo mental hospital, was scheduled to stand trial Thursday in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court on four felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

The trial is being moved because one of the prosecutor's witnesses was not available to testify on Thursday, court administrator Brock Kimmet said.

No new date has been set.

Gans is charged with driving at more than 125 mph in the westbound lanes of the turnpike and causing the crash near Fremont that killed Wilbur and Margaret McCoy, both 77, of Toledo.
