BLOOM TOWNSHIP — A local man died after being run over by a vehicle after a domestic dispute Sunday night.

Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said Daniel Luke, 42, of 9905 Alspach Road, died following a dispute with his wife around 9 p.m. Sunday.

He said Angela K. Luke, 40, of the same address, was arrested following the incident. Luke was released from jail after she was arraigned on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated vehicular homicide, both third-degree felonies, Monday afternoon in Fairfield County Municipal Court.

“There was some kind of domestic dispute that carried over into the driveway,” Phalen said.

Phalen was not sure what type of vehicle ran over Daniel Luke, who died at Diley Ridge Medical Center. He said there were two children in the vehicle when he was struck, a 12-year-old and a younger child. Phalen did not have the age of the second child.

“It’s pretty straight-forward,” Phalen said. “Something happened during that time in the driveway.”

Angela Luke is a second grade teacher at Tussing Elementary in Reynoldsburg. David Ball, public relations director for Pickerington Schools, said Angela Luke will be placed on unpaid suspension, which is standard procedure when an employee is facing charges of this caliber. Ball said she had been teaching at Tussing Elementary for at least 11 years.

If convicted, Luke could face a maximum of three years in prison for each charge.

Fairfield County deputies allege that Daniel Luke died at Diley Ridge Mecial Center after being struck by a vehicle driven by his wife, Angela Luke. The Lukes lived at this Alspach Road home in Bloom Township.

The Eagle-Gazette went to the area of the Lukes’ two-story home to talk to residents about the incident, but neighbors declined to comment.

“We’re continuing to investigate it,” said Lt. Tim Voris of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Voris declined to give any further details.

Luke’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 16 in Fairfield County Municipal Court.
