CHILLICOTHE – The Chillicothe Fire Department is investigating a fire that Chief Jeff Creed said started in a dryer Monday morning.

Firefighters talk outside an apartment building after pulling out a burnt dryer Monday on Sherman Park.

At approximately 10:17 a.m. Monday, maintenance personnel working in a Sherman Park apartment building discovered a fire in one of the units, according to Creed. The fire started in, and was contained to, a dryer in one of the apartments.

Creed said most of the damage to the apartment was caused by smoke, however crews did have to remove part of the wall around the dryer as a precaution.

There were no reported injuries and no one in the home at the time of the fire. An investigation will be conducted to determine how the fire started.
