PORT CLINTON – This weekend will be all about brews, bands and bikes as Ohio Bike Week has returned to Ottawa County.

Hogs by the Lake makes its inaugural debut Friday in downtown Port Clinton with a block party to kick off the riding season in the evening.

Roseann Hickman, one of the organizers of the event, said plenty of food and merchandise vendors will be on site, along with motorcyclists traveling from Bike Week events in Sandusky.

“You don’t have to have a motorcycle to come out to enjoy it,” Hickman said.

All proceeds from the weekend’s events benefit the Ottawa County Law Enforcement Memorial fund. Conceptual drawings of the memorial, which will be placed on the lawn at the Ottawa County Courthouse, will be displayed at the event throughout the weekend.

“This is our kickoff to fundraising,” Hickman said. “They’ll still be changes made to the memorial, but people can see how it could look.”

While the weather forecast could deter riders, Hickman said organizers are still hopeful people will come out “in droves” this weekend.

The event takes place from Friday evening until Sunday evening in the 100 and 200 blocks of Madison Street in the heart of the city.

Opening at 6 p.m. Friday, guests can pick up Glass City BBQ, drinks, hats, sunglasses, shirts and other merchandise from various vendors.

The band The Junk will kick off a weekend filled with music, preforming from 7 to 11 p.m. in the tent.

Saturday gets into the swing of things, with the Rolling Hams playing from 1 to 5 p.m.

Downtown Port Clinton will roar to life with a motorcycle parade, coming from M & M Cycles on U.S. 250 in Sandusky, traveling by Ohio 2 to Ottawa County and continuing along the lakeshore into the city.

The band Rock & Roll Outlaws will close out the evening with music from 7 to 11 p.m.

Sunday marks the Saints & Sinners Poker Run, which will begin at 11 a.m. at M & M Cycles; the last bike will come in at 4 p.m. in downtown Port Clinton.

The weekend’s festivities end with a performance by the Belligerent Chimps, who will play from 1 to 5 p.m.
