Danbury trustees approve police, fire purchases

MARBLEHEAD – At the April 8 Danbury Township Trustees meeting, officials approved the purchase of a new police vehicle at a cost of $28,000 and firefighter turnout gear at $72,900.

The outfitting of the cruiser will add an additional $1,743 to that cost. Trustees also approved an upgrade for police cell phones. They too learned the Northwest Ohio Safety Council will be honoring Danbury officers Brad LaMarca, Brandon Taylor, Brian Sloan and Josh Young for their lifesaving efforts.

Following Chief Keith Kahler’s report, the trustees approved the purchase $72,900 in turnout gear for fire safety services pending informational review and approval by the Prosecutor. Discussion was held regarding a new sign for Station1.

Kahler also reported he had acquired information on upgrading department cell phones.

The trustees held a public hearing on a map amendment from A to RC at 6421 E. Bayshore Road. The rezoning was approved..

Zoning and Planning Administrator Kathryn Dale’s report included that the Board of Zoning Appeals approved an area variance on March 18 at 462 Cedar. The Zoning Commission met on March 4 and approved a map amendment at 6421 E. Bayshore Road.

The Zoning Commission did not have any cases to be heard in April. The township trustees accepted the resignation of BZA alternate Ron Hart.

Trustees approved amending the 2012 Junk Vehicle Resolution.
