Luke’s attorney said family is in healing process

Staff report

CANAL WINCHESTER — An attorney for a Canal Winchester woman accused of fatally hitting her husband with her car following a domestic dispute on Sunday released a statement saying he is pleased there will be a thorough investigation in the case.

Angela Luke, 40, was facing charges of reckless homicide and aggravated vehicular homicide, until those charges were dropped on Wednesday night pending further investigation into the death of her husband, 42-year-old Daniel Luke, at their Alspach Road home.

As a result of the charges, Angela Luke, a second grade Tussing Elementary School teacher, was initially put on unpaid suspension. With the dismissal of charges, she was reinstated fully.

“Although we are anxious to bring resolution to this criminal investigation, we understand that any homicide investigation takes time,” said Angela Luke’s attorney Jonathan Tyack in a prepared statement. “We will continue to work collaboratively with the prosecutor’s office in our effort to assist Prosecutor (Gregg) Marx in his review of the case, with the confidence that the matter will be resolved favorably for Angela and her daughters.”

Tyack also said the family is “just beginning a long family healing process.”

“Thank you for respecting their privacy through this most turbulent time,” Tyack said.
