Footlight Players announces 67th season

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton Footlight Players has announced the four plays that will make up its 67th year under the theme of “A Season of Laughter and Love.”

The first show of the year will be “Love Letters,” starring Bettsy and Jim Gauerke under the direction of Susan Metz. The story of childhood friends whose relationship is revealed through read correspondence spanning 50 years marks the Gauerkes 60th year of involvement with the Footlight Players. Performances are Oct. 9 and 10, 16 and 17, and 23 and 24.

The holiday show, “Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas,” is a collection of 15 short holiday stories from author Robert Fulghum, best known as the writer of “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

Susan Metz directs the show, which will have performances Dec. 4 and 5, 11 and 12, and 18 and 19. Auditions will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 27 for three men and two women age 18 and older.

“Everybody Loves Opal” will be performed March 3 and 4, 10 and 11, and 17 and 18. The play, directed by Nathan Mayse, details a recluse collector who lives in a run-down house on the edge of a dump and the even crazier people who enter her life.

Auditions will be at 2 p.m. Jan 10 and at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 for a woman in her 20s to 30s, a woman in her 50s to 70s, a man in his 20s to 30s and three men in their 30s to 70s.

“Incorruptible,” directed by Susan Gordan, is a Dark Ages comedy set in 1250 A.D. France. A group of destitute monks take in a one-eyed minstrel who shows them an outrageous way to pay old debts. The production will run May 6 and 7, 13 and 14, and 20 and 21.

Auditions will be at 2 p.m. March 20 and at 7 p.m. March 21 for a woman in her 20s, a woman in her 40s, a woman older than 50 and five men of various ages. The character of Jack must sing and dance a little while also being able to juggle and do magic tricks. The young woman must also sing and dance a little.

All shows start at 8 p.m. at the Triple Locks Theater, 685 N. Whitewoman St. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students per show. Season tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for students. Season memberships can be purchased.
