CHILLICOTHE – City police arrested a man accused of having threatened two women with a knife Friday evening.

According to the Chillicothe Police report, the two female victims said they knocked on 29-year-old Patrick D. Hardesty’s room door at a residence in the 500 block of East Main Street around 7:05 p.m.

The victims told police when they knocked on the door to retrieve belongings, Hardesty answered that “they were not getting anything and he would stab them if they came in.” Hardesty is also alleged to have opened the door and pointed a knife in the women’s direction.

When an officer arrived and detained Hardesty, the knife was not on his person. Instead, a sheath for a knife was on Hardesty’s hip.

Hardesty denied threatening the women and said the women had threatened to kick in his bedroom door.

While interviewing another occupant of the residence, the officer noticed two large fixed-blade knives under the bed in Hardesty’s room.

Another witness inside the home said he heard the women knocking on Hardesty’s door and that Hardesty said he would “start stabbing if they came in his room,” according to the report.

Hardesty was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing.
