Police log: Caller threatens to ‘rip tongue out’

THEFT/ARREST

•3:25 p.m., Matthew A. Lemaster, of Port Clinton, was arrested and charged with theft after Wal-Mart employees caught him stealing more than $380 worth of electronics and DVDs from the store. Lemaster stated he had fallen on hard times and was trying to get money for the holidays, 2800 block of E. Harbor Road, Portage Township.

TRESPASSING

•8:16 p.m., a Curtice man said his trail camera caught a white-haired man in a blue jacket, tan pants walking on his property around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The property owner said he did not want to press charges if the man was identified but wanted to know why he was walking on his land, 24000 block of Reservation Lane, Allen Township.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

•11:47 a.m., a Psychological Transitions employee said a male caller threatened and cursed at her and said he was going to come find her and “rip her tongue out of her head” after the caller’s friend was billed for their services, SE Catawba Road, Portage Township.

OVI/MARKED LANES VIOLATION

•9:14 p.m., Sherry Hammond, of Sandusky, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and a marked lanes violation after a sheriff’s deputy pulled Hammond over in her red Ford Taurus for crossing over the center line and into the opposite lane of travel on State Route 163 near the Erie Township Fire Station. Hammond failed a field sobriety test, and after a breathalyzer test malfunction was asked to take a urine sample test, but dropped the container in the toilet, Erie Township.

ARREST

•Tolby Lee Bright, of Washington, NC, was arrested for a felony probation violation by Port Clinton Police officers.

ASSISTANCE

8:50 p.m., a caller said water was flowing out of the ground and police contacted the City Street Department, 100 block of Jackson St.

CHILD ABUSE

•5:22 p.m., a caller said they witnessed a woman knee a child in the stomach and punch her in the head. Responding officer said the mother of the subjects advised they were both juveniles and would handle the problem, corner Portage Drive and W. Fremont Road.

ASSISTANCE

1:07 p.m., a caller asked for an officer to stand by while they attempted to remove a subject from their home. The subject left on request and was advised they would be charged with criminal trespassing if they returned, 300 block of E. Fourth St.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

•2:17 a.m., a female caller said two white vans were parked in the alley behind her house, 500 block of E. Second St.

NARCOTICS

•11:15 p.m., a caller said a black male subject in a gray hooded sweatshirt with a baseball cap was possibly selling narcotics in the parking lot, 1100 block of W. Fremont Road.

SUSPICIOUS PERSONS

•8:10 p.m., a caller said suspicious people were leaning into car windows to look inside while in the parking lot, 1100 block of W. Fremont Road.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

•A Port Clinton woman, who was assisted by North Central EMS responders for being unresponsive in a cab, was banned from Beer Thirty’s and warned by police officers for disorderly conduct, 200 block of Maple St.

THEFT/REPORT

•4:17 p.m., a resident came to the police station and asked to file a report about a theft of a check by an unknown male, 1800 block of E. Perry.

•3:52 p.m., a caller said their shoes were stolen from their vehicle, 300 block of E. Eleventh St.

DISTURBANCE

•1:45 p.m., a caller said the neighbor in another apartment was playing their music loudly, 200 block of Buckeye Blvd.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

•1:06 p.m., a caller said their vehicle had been entered over the weekend and some change was taken, 500 block of W. Fremont Road.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

•4:47 a.m., a caller said an injured animal that looked like a dog was wandering around the Jet Express parking lot. Responding officer said the animal was a coyote and it was not injured, 1 block of Monroe.
