Talk About Woodville: Beginning to look like Christmas

Rene Dix

By now, the Thanksgiving leftovers have been consumed, frozen, or pushed to the back of the fridge in favor of another meal. Black Friday purchases have been smuggled into the house and hidden away and perhaps they are even wrapped already. People are checking schedules and trying to figure out when they can get together with friends and family for the holidays.

Everywhere you look, hints of Christmas are starting to appear throughout the village. Last week, Woodville’s street department placed the lights and decorations over Main Street and on the light poles in the business district. The flagpoles at HW Busdiecker Park have been decorated with thousands of pink lights to appear like Christmas trees and to support breast cancer research. Other flagpoles throughout town are also lit in solid color lights in support of various causes such as ovarian, prostate, and childhood cancers. The village Christmas tree was decorated and lit over the weekend while elementary students sang Christmas carols. Last, but not least, holiday programs and events are beginning to appear on the December calendar.
