Harding slips past River Valley

Harding scored a 26-24, 19-25, 25-15, 25-22 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win over River Valley on Thursday.

Whitney Starner’s block in game four sealed the victory for the Lady Presidents.

Shiniya Mallory led Harding (2-0 MOAC) with 17 kills and Taylor McIntire pounded 15 kills. Chloe Richardson hit 10 kills and five aces, Regan Endsley had 17 assists and six aces, Alexus Holmes dished 15 assists, and Faith McGinn, Mallory, and Shelbie Howard each had nine digs.

Elgin defeats East Knox

Elgin breezed past East Knox 25-9, 25-12, 25-14 in the MOAC.

Brianna Appelfeller served 21 points and 11 aces and notched six digs for Elgin (2-1 overall, 1-1 MOAC). Kadi Vermillion had nine points and three aces and set 28 of 28 with nine assists; Krosbi Clark smacked three kills; Meridith Cocherl recorded four kills; Tailor Wolf swatted eight kills and two blocks; Alyssa Rankin had three kills, and Miranda Haas dished six assists.

Elgin’s JV is also 2-1 and 1-1 after a 25-9, 15-25, 25-18 win. Kierstin King served 12 points and three aces and added nine digs; Camryn Hurtt was perfect in serving with nine points and two aces and had five digs; Kiersten Rentschler served 9 of 9 with seven points and two aces; and Lauren Van Gundy served six points and two aces and set 32 of 34 with four assists.

Highland rolls by Cardington-Lincoln

Highland smacked Cardington-Lincoln 25-9, 25-14, 25-23 in the MOAC.

Gracie Rees pounded six kills and Hayden Hursey hit four kills for Cardington-Lincoln. Samantha Brininger (14) and Rylie Partlow (10) were both in double figures in digs.

Centerburg stays unbeaten

Centerburg scored a 25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20 win over Fredericktown to go to 3-0 overall and to 2-0 in the MOAC.

Hannah Ervin accounted for three aces, 10 points, 10 kills, two blocks and 11 digs for the Lady Trojans. Renee Lemke added 20 points, nine kills and 30 assists; Emily Garber had 11 kills and three blocks; and Alaina Wright had 11 kills and 18 digs.

Centerburg won the JV match 25-22, 23-25, 25-20.

TENNIS

River Valley 4, Bucyrus 1

River Valley secured a triumph over Bucyrus on Thursday.

The Lady Vikings swept doubles. Leah Devore and Allison Edwards downed Celina Kelly and Adrian Lewis 6-4, 6-4 while Paayal Vora and Tatyana Young won 6-0, 6-1 over Sarah Lipscomb and Shay Thompson.

In singles, RV’s Izzy Smith triumphed 7-5, 6-1 over Lorrel Mullenkopf and Julie Lackey beat Danielle Predmore 6-1, 6-0. Taylor Hawk of River Valley lost in singles 2-6, 2-6 to Alyssa Musselman.

Harding 5, Galion 0

Harding lost only one set Thursday in a sweep of Galion.

Ashley Russell, at third singles for Harding, had to go three sets to down Kaylyn Gimble 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.

In other singles matchups, Fallyn Stephens defeated Katelyn Smith 6-3, 6-4, and Alyssa Moodley stopped Cassidy Ivy 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Harding’s Maggie Pitts and Allison Russell beat Tori Chandler and Dani Court 6-0, 6-2 and Ashleigh Lindsey and Sydney Street downed Marissa Brenich and Kiersten Gifford 6-2, 6-3.

JV winners for Harding were Michelle Flock, Madison Randolph, and Madelyn Predmore.

GOLF

Galion 175, Harding 202

Galion defeated Harding Thursday at Galion Country Club.

Galion’s Jack McElligot was match medalist with a 41. Sam Rigdon added a 42 for the Tigers, Nick Kroger shot a 45, Mitch Dyer had a 47, and Brevin Owens and Colten Skaggs each shot a 50.

Ryan Adams’ 45 was tops for Harding. Damion Whiteamire added a 49, Alec Soule and Evan Peters each shot a 54, and Dylon Childers carded a 62.
