SOMERSET - Sheriff's deputies located two missing children in the Perry State Forest Tuesday night and returned them to their mother without injury.

Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated to search for the children, who were reported missing at 9:20 p.m. from a relative's home in Rehoboth, according to the Perry County Sheriff's Office.

The children had left the home around 7 p.m. and never returned, the sheriff's office says.

Investigators conducted a ground and aerial search in an attempt to locate the children. Deputies then responded to the state forest in Somerset after learning that the children could be with a relative who frequents the area.

They located the vehicle, and a K-9 deputy was able to track the relative and the two children, who were later returned to their mother uninjured.

The sheriff's office required the assistance of the Junction City Fire Department, New Lexington Fire and EMS Department, Somerset Fire Department, Crooksville Fire and Police departments, Community Ambulance, Roseville Police, the Ohio Division of State Parks and the Ohio Highway Patrol Aviation Division.
