Teen Internet celebrity visits local dance school

Special to the Gazette

Chillicothe – The Transitions School of Dance hosted the Mia Diaz Dance Experience Jan. 29. Diaz is a celebrity Internet dance sensation and pre-teen and teen social media icon with over 400,000 followers. The performer was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine most recently and also featured in the movie, “Parts Per Billion,” starring Josh Hartnett and Rosario Dawson. Diaz was also the celebrity guest star on Lifetime TV’s hit show, “Dance Moms: Miami.”

Diaz brought choreographer and flexibility enthusiast “Boneless” Brandon Ellis to join her for the local dance event. Originally from Chicago, Ellis later moved to Arizona where he has been training and choreographing for L.A. Dance, one of Arizona’s top dance studios. Diaz and Ellis together bring a unique perspective to dance with the combination of an East and West Coast technique. Ellis worked on strengthening and flexibility techniques with the dancers, focusing on getting legs, jumps, and turns better and he also taught a dance combination that dancers presented to their parents and studio. A meet and greet followed afterward with Diaz and Ellis, which included autographs, pictures and a poster of Diaz.

The students at Transitions School of Dance were privileged to meet this inspiring duo. The school strives to teach, inspire and foster growth in its students and this event was another opportunity to do so.
