Inmate assaulted at county jail

ZANESVILLE — An inmate at the Muskingum County Jail is in critical condition after an assault at the jail on Saturday night.

Jeffrey Dunwoody, 28, was booked into the jail the day before on misdemeanor traffic offenses and suffered serious head injuries from the assault, said Sheriff Matt Lutz. The incident is still under investigation.
