Submitted

ELMORE — The 11th Annual Tombstone Derby will be Oct. 24. The Elmore Historical Society will hold the event in Depot Park in Elmore.

For those interested in participating in the Motorized Casket Races, racers can use any kind of vehicle such as go-kart, golf cart, or four wheeler with a power plant. They must be built strongly so as not to fall apart and the body must be built to resemble anything with a Halloween theme. It could resemble things like a scary boat, airplane or anything imaginable. Decorating the casket with a Halloween theme puts contestants in competition for a “Best of Show” trophy.

Vehicles must have working brakes. Vehicles will only be allowed to race at speeds under 25 mph. All vehicles must meet these criteria or they will not be allowed to race.

All vehicles must register to participate. There is no entry fee to race. The race is run like a “Poker Run” with participants receiving a card with each lap completed. The winner will receive $100 first prize plus a trophy.
