City man charged with felony domestic violence

CHILLICOTHE – A 23-year-old man is charged with felony domestic violence after a Saturday incident in which his pregnant girlfriend ran to a nearby home to escape from him.

Todd A. Elliott, of 628 Glencroft Ave., was also charged with aggravated menacing by Chillicothe police after the incident, which occurred at about 5:08 p.m.

According to an incident report, a caller told police that Elliott had assaulted his girlfriend, had a knife and was trying to get into the neighboring home. When police arrived, they found a black folding knife in his right front pants pocket and blood and abrasions on his hands.

His girlfriend told police she arrived at their home and he became violent as she walked in. He followed her through the house “hitting the doors and throwing things at her.” She also said he tried to break her phone before he grabbed her and started shaking and pushing her, before striking her in the stomach.

After she broke free and ran to the neighboring home, he followed her there with a knife and began banging on the door with the knife in his hand. He later went back to his home while police were on their way. Elliott told police he hit the woman with a “roll of paper” but didn’t do anything else and that sometimes he “loses it.”

The girlfriend initially refused treatment, but, according to the police, later went to Adena Medical Center to be checked out by a doctor. Elliott was taken to jail to await his arraignment on the charges.
