Café at Medbery: Combo is good seasonal option

COSHOCTON - The Café at Medbery has a satisfying combination that is loaded with homemade goodness.

The customer favorite Italian salad topped with Medbery’s homemade Italian dressing and new homemade tomato bisque soup make the perfect pair.

“It’s just a combination of quality ingredients that make them so good,” said deli manager Christine Strongosky.

Located in the back of Medbery Marketplace at 403 N. Whitewoman St. in Roscoe Village, the Café at Medbery has had fresh salads on the menu for some time, but recently introduced tomato bisque soup, Strongosky said.

“It’s a hearty, creamy soup that is great for fall and winter.”

Chef Bob McKenna, co-owner of the Café at Medbery, slow simmers his special recipe that includes a tomato base, cream and fresh basil, onions and garlic, Strongosky explained. His homemade salad dressings are also made fresh, she said. “His recipes are delicious.”

In addition to McKenna’s homemade Italian salad dressing, it’s the fresh chopped vegetables and ample ingredients that make the Medbery’s Italian salad special, said café manager Paula Fry.

“Our Italian salad dressing is different than any bottled dressing. It has a perfect combination of spices, and you can really taste the Parmesan in it,” she said.

The Italian salad, available in two sizes, starts with Romaine lettuce, and is packed with pepperoni, salami, ham, provolone cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, pepper rings, black olives and bagel croutons.

“We do not go light on the toppings,” said Fry.

In addition to the Italian salad and tomato bisque combination, customers can choose from a variety of signature salads and sub sandwiches to pair for their favorite combo meals. They can also customize salads and subs from a menu of premium meats, cheeses, toppings, dressings and condiments.

The tomato bisque soup is also available in quart-sized containers for take-home orders, Fry said.

Café at Medbery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Takeout orders are available by calling in advance at 740-291-8000.
