PICKERINGTON -  A local business owner injured in a motor vehicle crash Monday died of his injuries, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Two fight injuries after US 33 crash

William Allman, 46, of Groveport, owned Allman's Complete Car & Truck Center in Lancaster.

He and Fairfield County Sheriff's Deputy Lyle Campbell, 34, of Stoutsville, were in the westbound lanes of U.S. 33 just east of Pickerington Road. Allman was one of three drivers who had been involved in an earlier crash at the scene.

Police said Campbell was investigating the crash when Robert McKinney, 68, of Houston, Texas, struck both him and Allman just before 7:30 p.m. Campbell was injured but survived the crash. He is in stable condition at Grant Medical Center.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation, and the crash remains under investigation by the Lancaster Post of the patrol. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
