NEWARK - Newark police are investigating after a person was injured in a shooting Friday morning.

Newark Police Detective Captain Dave Haren said at least two people entered an apartment on the 1400 block of Dickerson Street just before 12:30 a.m. Friday.

During some sort of exchange, shots were fired and one person, a resident of the apartment, was injured.

The suspects fled the area before police arrived, but witnesses were able to provide a general vehicle description and suspect information, Haren said.

The resident's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and they are expected to make a full recovery, Haren said.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to contact Newark police at 740-670-7200.
