Commissioners to discuss drugs, seniors levy

CHILLICOTHE – The Ross County commissioners will discuss drugs, seniors and grants during Monday’s regular meeting.

The commissioners will convene at 9 a.m. Monday in their office on the second floor of the Ross County Courthouse. The first scheduled meeting will be a 9:30 a.m. discussion with Adelphi village resident Steve Hettinger regarding drug trafficking in the village. That will be followed at 10:30 a.m. by a discussion with Jody Riley, director of the Ross County Senior Citizens Center, and Harold Bennett regarding an operational levy increase request for the November ballot.

A public hearing on the 2015 tax budget will take place at 11:30 a.m., and the final meeting of the day will be a 1:30 p.m. meeting with county engineer Charlie Ortman regarding the Ohio Public Works Commission Project Grant Agreement State Capital Improvement Program.

In other meeting news this week:

•The Adena Local Schools Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the board conference room. Action may be taken during the meeting on the replacement purchase of a Gator utility vehicle and the hiring of personnel. The board may also enter into executive session to discuss employment and compensation of personnel.

•The Ross County Agricultural Society (fair board) will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Multipurpose Building at the Ross County Fairgrounds. The board is in the final planning stages for this year’s Ross County Fair, which will run Aug. 8 through 15.

•The Ross County Board of Elections will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Suite D of the Ross County Service Center, 475 Western Ave. Items on the agenda include discussions of campaign finance, May election chargebacks, independent petitions and old business regarding the March 15 primary, the district meeting and E-pollbooks.

Waverly Village Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers at 201 W. North St. Council will hear second reading of a resolution to authorize the mayor and water department to execute a service agreement with Aqua Ohio Inc. to provide builk water from the village’s water system and will consider several fund transfer requests.

•The Waverly Local Schools Board of Education has canceled its originally scheduled Wednesday meeting this week. The meeting has been rescheduled as a special board meeting for general purposes at 9 a.m. July 21 in the high school study hall.

•The Franklin Township Board of Trustees will meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Fire House No. 1 on George Hollow Road. The meeting will begin with a fiscal year 2016 budget hearing, followed by the regular monthly meeting.
