ODNR to demolish three properties on Buckeye Lake Dam

Advocate Staff Report

BUCKEYE LAKE – Three properties are set to be demolished by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources next week, according to John Wisse, spokesperson for the department.

The three structures were acquired by the ODNR in October and November of last year to allow greater access for state dam safety inspectors and "in preparation for making comprehensive dam repairs," Wisse said.

The total sale of the properties totalled $610,000.

According to a release posted Thursday afternoon on the ODNR website, demolition of properties at 3545 Seller's Drive and 3465 North Bank Road is set to begin July 7. The property at 3545 Seller's Drive is the former Smitty's Inn. The ODNR also leased a property at 3507 Seller's Drive last fall.

"The structures on these properties are in disrepair and need to be removed for public safety reasons. After the structures are removed, each site will be restored back to its natural condition with structural fill and topsoil," the statement reads.
