K-9 tracks missing Stoutsville toddler through field

Ohio

STOUTSVILLE – A Fairfield County Sheriff's Office K-9 tracked a toddler, who had wandered three quarters of a mile away from home on Tuesday, despite difficult conditions, according to law enforcement.

A mother called 911 just after noon on Tuesday to report that her 23-month-old son, Brent Hoffman Jr., was missing from her Stoutsville home. Several deputies, including Deputy Shaun Meloy and his K-9 partner Kahr, responded to the home to help in the search.

It took 15 minutes for Kahr to track the toddler into six-foot-high cornfields that bordered a wide stream. No one was injured.
