Etna man arrested after allegedly stabbing another man

ETNA — An Etna Township man was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man Monday afternoon.

Deputies from the Licking County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported domestic dispute situation around 4:42 p.m. at the Modern Trailer Park, 8910 E. Main St. The park stands in the Reynoldsburg portion of the township, just east of Taylor Road.

When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a 58-year-old man who had been stabbed, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Medics from West Licking Joint Fire District already were treating the man inside a medic unit. The medics transported the man, who had life-threatening injuries, to Grant Medical Center.

Responding detectives extensively searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him, according to the press release.

That changed around 8 p.m., when detectives spotted the 33-year-old male suspect, who the sheriff's office identified as Zachary W. Masterson, of 8910 E Main St., Lot 105, walk back to his home inside the trailer park, according to the press release.

Detectives surrounded the home, and when they entered it they found Masterson hiding inside and immediately arrested him.

Masterson later admitted to the stabbing during an interview with detectives, according to the press release.

On Tuesday, Masterson was formally charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Detectives continue to investigate the incident, and they remain in contact with the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office regarding additional charges, according to the press release.
