LANCASTER – Janet Becker has been named the permanent associate dean at the the Ohio University Lancaster campus.

Becker had been serving as the interim associate dean at the campus for the past two years. She will officially start her new position on July 1.

“Janet has been serving in the interim associate dean role since July of 2013 and has done an outstanding job,” said Lancaster Campus Dean Dr. Jim Smith in an email to faculty and staff. “In addition to serving in the position on an interim basis, she also brings important experience to the job after serving as a faculty senator and as an academic division coordinator for several years. She has a strong knowledge of the university governance and procedures, as well as the management of academic programs, class scheduling and staffing.”

Becker has worked at Ohio University Lancaster for 17 years. She served for three years as a faculty senator and six years as an academic division coordinator. Becker has also served as a campus and system coordinator for the Accounting Technology associate’s degree program.

“I am very excited about what lies ahead for this campus and I’m honored to have been offered the position,” said Becker.

The position of associate dean became available after Paul Abraham accepted the position of dean at Ohio University Eastern in 2013. Abraham was in the position for three years.
