FREMONT – After being missing for two weeks, Pete the peacock has been found and returned to his home.

Pete, the pet of Elaine Fisher and her husband, was found Friday in a barn on Peninsular Farms, across Oak Harbor Road from the couple’s home.

“We are delighted to say the least,” Elaine Fisher said. “I appreciate everyone’s concern.”

Peninsular Farms owner Don Miller found a peacock in a barn on his property. When the Fishers arrived and Miller opened the door, Pete flew out.

“He seems to be fine,” she said. “He’s wandering around the backyard.

“He seems pretty hungry. We put food out right away.”

Pete likely got into the barn when it was open a couple weeks ago and inadvertently got shut in, she said. Pete was reported missing around May 13.

The Fishers became concerned when Pete didn’t show up for dinner, as he usually does. They have had Pete since last fall, and he has a pretty regular routine of eating and then roosting in a tree for the night.
