CHILLICOTHE — A 25-year-old city woman was sent to the hospital after she told police she was jumped by three women early Tuesday.

The incident happened just a few hours after the victim was also named in a separate report in which a couple told police shots were fired near an Arch Street apartment complex.

Police were called to an Arch Street home at about 2:01 a.m., where they met with the woman who claimed she was attacked by the trio of women in the area of Locust Street and Western Avenue.

The victim told police she was riding with a man and looking for her son and asked the driver to take her to the Locust/Western area to get some money that was owed to her. The women pulled the victim from the vehicle and beat her, injuring her to the extend where she required treatment at Adena Medical Center.

The attackers were mad, the victim said, because they claimed she sent photos to one of their boyfriends. She named two of the three attackers and the driver of the car also named the same two women as suspects, adding that she was “tricked into going to the area so that the girls could jump her.” Police said they would seek warrants on at least two of the women.

In the earlier incident, the victim in the 2 a.m. assault was named in the shots fired report.

At shortly after midnight, a Chillicothe police officer received word of shots fired at the Arch Elm Apartments. The officer arrived at the complex and was told by a man and woman had witnessed one man shooting at another after demanding money. Police found no blood or shell casings, but did talk to witnesses who heard gunshots. Police said the man who was shot at told a friend he did not want to speak to the police.

According to the police report, the couple told police the man who fired the shots at around midnight was with the woman who later became the victim of the 2 a.m. assault. No charges are expected in that case.
