Missing Galion man found

GALION – A missing Crawford County man was found with help from Marion officials.

"Our missing male Fred Saunders has been located, through investigation Marion City has made contact with him and he is fine," Galion Police Department wrote in its Facebook page Friday.

On Tuesday, after Saunders went missing a news release was issued seeking help in in locating the 68-year-old.

Fred Saunders Sr. had walked away from his residence at 401 S. Union St. at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday. Saunders suffers from Alzheimer's disease and is unfamiliar with the area as he has recently moved there.

An extensive search was conducted by the Galion Police Department with assistance from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

Galion police contacted the Marion Police Department after being told he was with a family member in Marion, Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield said. Marion police confirmed Saunders was safe with a family member in Marion, Saterfield said police don't know where he was between the report he walked away from his residence and finding he was in Marion.
