MARION - A Marion County grand jury on Wednesday indicted two men on sexual assault and other violent crime charges in connection with two separate incidents.

Ronzell Q. Johnson, 22, 565 Davids St., was indicted on superseding charges of felonious assault, a first-degree felony, and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. The felonious assault charge replaces an assault charge classified as a first-degree misdemeanor.

Previous charges of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and an additional charge of assault as a first-degree misdemeanor remain in the indictment, which was originally filed Dec. 3, 2015. Johnson pleaded not guilty to those charges Dec. 7, 2015.

Joshua J. McFann, 21, last known address in Columbus, was indicted on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, a second-degree felony. A three-year firearm specification also was returned with the improper discharge count.

The grand jury indicted 16 others on felony charges, including 10 charged with drug-related crimes:

DeMario Barnes, 27, and Danielle A. Cutarelli, 22, both residents of 363 Executive Drive, were indicted on superseding joint charges of possession of heroin, a first-degree felony; possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

As a forfeiture specification to these counts, the state seeks possession of an AK-47, a Taurus .410 revolver and five rounds of .410 ammunition, as well as unspecified amounts of .38-caliber, 9 mm Luger and .25-caliber ammunition.

Barnes’ previous charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree, also was included in the indictment. That count was introduced Sept. 24 after Barnes was arrested during MARMET’s “Operation Summer Clearance” where an AK-47, Taurus .410 revolver and Taurus 9 mm handgun were seized, according to a MARMET news release.

Barnes pleaded not guilty to the original charge Sept. 28, 2015.

Timmie C. Cox, 57, 206 S. State St., was indicted on two counts of illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse into a detention facility, both third-degree felonies. Marion County Prosecutor Brent Yager said the case is unrelated to the charges against Devin Cox, 22, who is charged with illegally conveying a drug of abuse into a detention facility while employed at North Central Correctional Institution as a corrections officer.
