WSOS celebrates 50 years of service

HURON – WSOS staff, board members and supporters celebrated the agency's 50th year on April 24 at Sawmill Creek in Huron.

The WSOS 50th anniversary celebration brought together roughly 400 employees from the agency's wide service region to recognize its milestone year. The agency began in 1965 to serve residents of Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca counties and later added Wood County to its service area.

Mark Kennedy Shriver, president of Save the Children Action Network, gave the celebration's keynote speech. Shriver also is the author of "A Good Man," a memoir about his father, Sargent Shriver, founder of the Peace Corps.

The celebration concluded with recognition of WSOS staff and their years of service to the agency.
