Deputies receive Narcan kits to save overdose victims

LANCASTER – The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office received a Project DAWN, or Deaths Avoided With Narcan, grant to provide Narcan kits to deputies when dealing with overdose victims in the field.

Nasal Narcan is used to reverse the effects of opiate overdoses and potentially save the life of the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.

Heroin and other opiate overdoses have increased over recent years, and the grant was pursued, with the help of the Fairfield County Addiction and Mental Health Board, in response to this problem.
