Mount Gilead baseball team stays unbeaten

MOUNT GILEAD – Mount Gilead’s baseball team remained unbeaten with a 2-1 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference conquest of Centerburg on Thursday.

The Indians (7-0 overall, 4-0 MOAC) scored the winning run in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

Xavier Harris smacked two hits and was the winning pitcher for Mount Gilead. He did not allow an earned run, struck out 13, and give up five hits.

Ben Hayes, Nick Arrington, and Tyler Bland each had a hit for the Indians.

River Valley 9, Wynford 7

BUCYRUS – River Valley continued to snap out of a hitting slump with a 9-7 non-league win over Wynford.

The Vikings scored seven runs in the first inning.

Bryon Doubikin swatted three hits for RV and knocked in three runs. Karac Doubikin added two hits, and Logan Fetter, Alec Branstetter, Tom Poorman, Weston Perry, Logan Stockdale, and Travis Eikemeyer each had a hit.

Alan Roth was the winning pitcher with relief help from Jerrett Reichardt.

Highland 12, Cardington-Lincoln 2

SPARTA – Highland scored in every inning but one in taking down Cardington-Lincoln 12-2 in the MOAC.

Wyatt Gresh, Dalton Stambaugh, and Max Schreiber each had two hits and two RBIs for Highland (6-4 overall, 3-2 MOAC). One of Gresh‘s hits was a double.

Justin Tuggle (2-1) was the winning pitcher. Schreiber pitched in relief.

Highland’s JV beat Cardington-Lincoln 12-0 as Sam LoPiccolo and Nolan Johnson combined to twirl the shutout.

Highland’s freshman team fell 7-0 to Mount Vernon. Javi Vazquez had a double and Kyle Munday a single for Highland.

Softball

Cardington-Lincoln 12, Highland 0

SPARTA – Alyson Adams knocked in five runs for Cardington-Lincoln in a 12-0 MOAC win over Highland.

Adams homered and singled for the Lady Pirates (9-1, 7-0). Aubrey Clark hit two doubles and two singles, Brooklyn Whitt singled twice and doubled, Makenna McClure swatted two hits, and Khyla Jones, Kylie Partlow, Dakota Crum, and Allie Moore each poked a hit.

Brooke Snyder was the winning pitcher. Megan Oder took the loss for Highland (5-4, 3-2).

Buckeye Valley 10, Harding 0

DELAWARE – Kasey Morris smncked a two-run homer and tossed a three-hitter to lead Buckeye Valley past Harding 10-0 in the MOAC.

Maxxine Pittman took the loss for Harding.

River Valley 15, Wynford 0

BUCYRUS – An eight-run first inning propelled River Valley to a 15-0 non-league win over Wynford.

Cambry Arnold smacked three hits for the Lady Vikings (8-4) while Morgan Lott had two hits, Madi Myers hit a double, and Alyssa Johnson, Amy Poorman, Mackenzie Warner, Claire Nicholson, and Alexis Reichardt each swatted a single.

Sha Call and Poorman limited Wynford to only one hit.
