HEATH — A crash caused minor damage to a Heath fire station Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 1:05 p.m. Friday at Heath’s Station Two, located on Blackfoot Trail.

Lt. Ralph Swick said several members of the fire department were outside at the time working on switching engines. They heard the crash and ran to the back of the building.

Swick said the vehicle had been headed south on Linnville Road, went past Blackfoot Trail and then crossed the center line, went through a guardrail and down a hill. The vehicle clipped the corner of the building before striking the rear of the building and catching fire, Swick said.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was detained until he could be taken into police custody, Swick said.

A crash Friday afternoon caused minor damage to Station Two of the Heath Fire Department.

The driver had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

Swick said the building did not appear to suffer any significant structural damage and medics will continue to operate out of it.
