BALLVILLE TWP. – A registered sex offender in Oak Harbor was indicted on two felony rape and sexual battery charges stemming from an incident nearly two years ago.

Andrew Gerwin, 28, is being held with no bond at the Sandusky County Jail. He was indicted Tuesday on the felony charges by a Sandusky County grand jury on allegations that he entered into sexual activity with a pre-teen female, according to Sandusky County Sheriff's Office Detective Sean O'Connell.

"It's alleged that Gerwin had done things to a minor" who was a relative, O'Connell said.

During the initial investigation, O'Connell said there was not enough evidence found to bring charges against Gerwin.

O'Connell said Gerwin was convicted of two felony charges in 2011 for pandering sexually oriented materials and purchasing sexual materials involving a minor.

Gerwin was sentenced to five years of community control with supervision and a treatment program.

Because the case involves a minor, O'Connell said Children Services is also involved in the investigation.
