Granville police investigate car break-ins

GRANVILLE – Police are investigating reports of break-ins to or entering of eight vehicles in two neighborhoods on Granville’s east side — on Wexford Drive, Cassidy Court, Longford Drive and Ballymore Court.

A resident of Wexford Drive first reported at around 8:30 a.m. Monday that someone had gone through his vehicle as it sat in his driveway, reporting that nothing was missing, but there were cigarette ashes on the center console.

A short time later, a nearby resident reported someone had gone through her vehicle while parked in the garage, stealing $25 from her wallet, and her credit cards and wallet contents were scattered in a nearby yard.

A third person reported a vehicle was broken into while parked in a driveway, with $16 in change missing.

The second caller also indicated there were cigarette ashes in the yard of a neighbor who does not smoke.

Another resident of Cassidy Court then reported that a window had been broken out of his car, but nothing appeared to be missing. A piece of the broken glass was later recovered with blood on it, the police report stated.

Police said three other residents called later to report their vehicles had been broken into, but nothing was stolen.
