One arrested after drug bust on West Fifth Street

CHILLICOTHE – A drug search warrant executed Saturday at a residence on West Fifth Street in Chillicothe resulted in one man being arrested on a charge of possession of heroin, authorities said.

The Chillicothe Police Department Special Response Team, along with the Ross County Sheriff's Office Tactical Team, served a search warrant at 161 W. Fifth St. on Saturday that resulted from an investigation conducted by agents with the Route 23 Drug Pipeline Task Force stemming from alleged drug activity at the residence.

Three adults were inside the home at the time, including 32-year-old Julio Gutierrez, who was arrested on a charge of possession of heroin and was being held in the Ross County jail, according to police.

Authorities also said that, as a result of the search warrant for drugs, there was some possible stolen equipment found that could result in additional charges.

Meanwhile, the Chillicothe post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Ross County Sheriff's Office and the Chillicothe Police Department saturated the area with officers on Friday and Saturday that was meant to deter crime through aggressive traffic enforcement.

The event, which started at 10 a.m. Friday morning and continued until 4 a.m. Sunday morning, resulted in 478 traffic stops, seven OVI arrests, seven felony arrests, three felony warrants, 14 misdemeanor arrests and 19 misdemeanor warrants.

The Chillicothe Police Department served search warrants at two local residences that resulted in weapons and narcotics seizures, authorities said.
