Burglars strip vacant homes of copper piping

LANCASTER – Copper piping valued at $16,000 was reportedly stripped from four vacant homes, including three in the 900 block of East Main Street, according to police reports.

The theft was reported over the weekend, but could have occurred within the last 10 days. In addition to the East Main Street homes, a home in the 100 block of Cherry Street was also stripped of its copper.

According to police, burglars entered the homes by smashing a window or door.
