Police Calls: Woman strikes kids with extension cord

200 block of Hedges Street, Mansfield — Police went to a residence Monday after a counselor called to report possible abuse of four children, ages 8, 9, 10 and 13. The children were out past 1 a.m. and the children told police that the suspect used an extension cord striking them several times in the arms, legs, hip and buttocks leaving several bruises and cuts. The suspect was issued four summons for endangering children. Richland County Children Services was on the scene from this officer’s arrival. The suspect said she may have gone too far but added, “She would be (darned) if her children grew up the way she did.”

Abon, 115 Park Avenue West, Mansfield —Officers responded Monday to the business in reference to suspicious activity. Contact was made with two suspects who advised they were selling an Xbox 360. One of the suspects was found to have been the offender in a theft. The other suspect used her identification to sell the Xbox 360 that was purchased with the stolen credit card. Evidence was collected and submitted to the crime lab. Both the 23-year-old woman and 24-year-old man were arrested and taken to jail. One person was issued a summons for theft and the other a summons for receiving stolen property.

100 block of Orchard Park Road — A stolen motorcycle valued at $3,000 was recovered Monday.

600 block of Fleetwood Drive — A Verizon tablet, Droid cell phone and diamond cross necklace were reported stolen from a home Monday. A 27-year-olf female and a 26-year-old male were listed as suspects in the report.

1700 block of Evergreen Avenue — A woman reported Monday the theft of prescription drugs, including $100 worth of Klonopin and $70 worth of Fiorcet.
