CANAL WINCHESTER – Canal Winchester residents are mourning the recent deaths of two popular community members.

Last week, Brock “B-Rock” Johnson, 14, a student in the Canal Winchester school district, lost his battle with an autoimmune disease. A celebration of his life was held Sunday evening at the Canal Winchester High School football field. Community members and fellow students dressed in green, Brock’s favorite color, and many people were also wearing B-Rock t-shirts. A fund has been set up in Brock’s memory. Donations can be made in Brock’s memory to Sycamore Creek Church, 8100 Refugee Road, Pickerington, OH 43147.

A memorial service is planned for next week for a popular Canal Winchester physician who died earlier this month. Dr. Daniel E. Konold, 53, died at Wexner Ohio State University Medical Center following complications from heart surgery. He was a physician and partner with Canal Winchester Family Health.

Konold’s memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. June 7 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 333 S. Drexel Ave., Columbus, with a reception immediately following.
