Highway patrol continues 33A crash investigation

Ohio

LANCASTER – The Ohio Highway Patrol is still investigating a crash on County Road 33A near Colonial Estates mobile home park that sent two Lancaster men to the hospital by medical helicopter over the weekend.

The highway patrol released some of the names of those involved, including Christopher Cole, 49, of Lancaster, and William Daines, 43, of Lancaster, who were riding together in a white Ford Explorer. Shawn Pettet, 20, of McConnellsville, and another unidentified person were in a separate vehicle that collided with the Ford Explorer. The patrol would not say who was at fault or who was driving the vehicles because it has not yet been determined. One or both of the vehicles also hit a recreational vehicle parked in the Specialty RV sales lot.

Both Cole and Daines were flown to Columbus hospitals, where Cole was listed Wednesday in fair condition and Daines was in "critical but stable" condition, according to the hospital officials.

Details of the crash have not yet been released.
