Middle School principal receives award

PORT CLINTON – The Ohio School Boards Association recently honored Port Clinton Middle School Principal Carrie Sanchez with the Northwest Region Excellence Award for Outstanding Leadership. Sanchez received the award at the Northwest Region Meeting March 12, in Sandusky.

Through her leadership, students thrive in an environment designed specifically for middle-school aged students. Even the school day schedule allows for staff collaboration everyday to discuss the education plan and individual student concerns.

Port Clinton Middle School has repeatedly received the Ohio Department of Education excellent rating and in 2014 the school was named a High Progress School of Honor by the Ohio Department of Education.

In addition to her duties as principal, Sanchez also chairs the school district’s Navigator program. During the 2012-13 school year, she also faced the difficult task of leading students and faculty through the illness and loss of a student.
