SANDUSKY – Police in northern Ohio say a man dumped gasoline on his wife and her 8-year-old granddaughter and threatened to set them on fire before fleeing their apartment.

Sandusky police say they arrested 44-year-old Kevin Bruster early Sunday morning.

Bruster is charged with attempted murder and domestic violence and being held in the Erie County jail. He doesn't yet have an attorney.

The Sandusky Register reports that his wife told police that she and her granddaughter were watching television Friday night when her husband became angry.

She says he chased the pair onto a porch where he poured gas on them, and that he ran away as they were trying to call police.

Officers say they smelled gas as they arrived at the home and later found a gas canister.
