NEW CONCORD – Six male juveniles likely face charges after officials identified them in three trespassing incidents on East Muskingum Schools property.

The juveniles are suspected of breaking into John Glenn High School and New Concord Elementary School, said New Concord Police Chief Trevor Hayes. Authorities have not been able to tie the suspects to any damage caused at the school, he said, adding that he cannot give an estimate of the damage caused.

School officials reported the incidents to the police department earlier this month, Hayes said.

"We've asked the village police to investigate and to prosecute," said Jill Johnson, superintdendant of East Muskingum Schools. "It is summer time and we expect our buildings, like any other place, to be locked up and safe and secure."

The first incident was on June 29 at the high school, Johnson said. The suspects then returned the next night, and then also trespassed at the elementary school, she said.

Hayes confirmed that at least some of the suspects are students at the high school. He declined to release further details in the pending case.

The police department is working with the Muskingum County Prosecutor's Office on potential juvenile charges for the suspects, Hayes said.

The boys are not in custody.
