No injuries in university fire

Staff report

NEW CONCORD – No one was injured in a Thursday night fire at Thomas Dining Hall at Muskingum University, but the dining hall will be closed for several days.

Janet Bass, vice president for Student Affairs, said the cause is still under investigation. The fire was along the southern wall of the building.

The dining hall was closed and no students were inside at the time of the fire, and the student dormitories that are connected to the building were not affected, she said. The hall dining hall will be closed until at least Monday.

The New Concord Fire Department, the Cassell Station Volunteer Fire Department and Perry Township responded to the scene.
