Magruder Hospital named to Top 100 critical access list

Special to The News Herald

PORT CLINTON – Magruder Hospital was recently named one of the iVantage Healthstrong Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States.

The hospital earned the same top designation last year.

“It speaks volumes of the efforts, talents and vision of our physicians and staff,” said Todd Almendinger, Magruder’s president and CEO. “The data compiled to generate this designation is a direct comparison of metrics hospitals are required to report to Medicare for 66 difference performance indicators.

“That means they are looking at everything we do, not just our patient satisfaction, but our outcomes and quality, and even affordability. These are the things we strive to succeed with, because these are the things that matter to patients.”

Earlier in the year, Magruder also was notified that, among all hospitals in the nation, it is in the top tier of performance.

“Rural health care deserves the same performance analysis as all provider performance. It plays a vital role for communities across America, serving nearly 80 million people,” said John Morrow, executive vice president of iVantage Health Analytics.
