MARION – Troopers from the Marion post of the Ohio Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 2:35 p.m. Tuesday on Davids Street.

Darryl L. Reed, 53, of Marion, died after the crash, according to the patrol.

According to the patrol's report, a 2010 Ford E-250 van pulling a 2014 Carry-On Corporation trailer, driven by Jason E. Engle, 46, of Waynesfield, was southbound on Davids Street just south of Wood Street, while a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jonathan A. Oliver, 34, of Marion, was northbound on Davids Street.

The Silverado had two passengers, Reed and Alphonzo Weaver, 36, also of Marion, the patrol reported.

The van driven by Engle went left of center and struck the Silverado head on, forcing the Silverado into a parked car on the east side of Davids Street, according to the patrol.

Oliver, Reed and Weaver were taken to Marion General Hospital by Marion City Fire and EMS. They were then taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where Reed was pronounced dead.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by Marion Police Department and Marion City Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation.
