Trustees meeting, card party and more coming up

CARROLL – The Greenfield Township Trustees will hold a special meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12, at the Greenfield Township Firehouse, 3245 Havensport Road.

The purpose of the meeting is to interview applicants for the zoning board and zoning board of appeals. The meeting is open to the public but the interviews may be conducted in executive session.

School offices closed

The Bloom-Carroll Local School District Offices will be closed Thursday and Friday (July 30 and 31). This closure affects the superintendent’s office, treasurer’s office, district registrar, special education and the curriculum. Normal business hours will resume on Monday.

Fundraiser

The Wagnalls Memorial will be the location for a fundraiser to assist an area couple in raising funds to offset the costs of adopting a special needs child overseas. A spaghetti dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, at The Wagnalls Memorial, 150 W. Columbus St., Lithopolis.

Robert and Heather Pahls are raising money to help offset the costs of adopting Micah from China. Micah, 13, is aging out of the adoption system in China. The Pahls adopted a child from China four years ago. All donations received benefit the matching grant through Brittany’s Hope Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to aiding and facilitating adoptions of special needs children from around the world.

Card Party

Members of the Bloom-Carroll Community are invited to a card party from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at The Wagnalls Memorial in Lithopolis. Players are encouraged to bring snacks or a sack lunch as well as various card games such as canasta, euchre, rummy and more. Players will decide which games will be played. The free event is open to all.

LUMC

Lithopolis United Methodist Church, corner of Market and North Streets, will hold a free community dinner at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19, in the multi-ministry center. Donations will be accepted.

Pilgrimage

Father Denis Kigozi, Priest at St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Lithopolis will join hosts Aimee and Dave Walton on a pilgrimage this fall to the Holy Land in Israel. Travelers will visit the places where Jesus walked, taught, performed miracles, was crucified and raised from the dead. This experience of a lifetime is scheduled for Nov. 11 to 20.
