Van Fossen wins Crystal Springs Junior tourney

Dylan Van Fossen shot 3-under-par 68 to wins the 16-18-year-old age division at the Crystal Springs Junior Tournament on Tuesday.

Van Fossen edged Maysville grad Luke Engle (70) and New Lexington’s Brayden Metzger (72) in the 19-player field. John Glenn’s Christian Taylor was fourth with 73.

Watkins Memorial’s Cody Cogdill shot 71 to win in the 30-player boys 13-15 division, which played white tees, with 71. Zanesville’s Nolan Kimberly was second (73) and Sheridan’s Costa Coconis third (74).

John Glenn’s Lexi Bubenchik forced a two-hole playoff with defending state champion Makayla Dull of Kansas Lakota in the girls 13-18 division, but Dull eventually won after both shot 71.

Jewel Goins (79) and Joslyn Goins (80), both of Zanesville, were third and fourth, respectively.

Tri-Valley’s Drew Johnson was second (41) and Crooksville’s Owen Carney third (44) in the 10-12 division. Kyleigh Dull, of Lakota, won the division with 38.
