For the Record: More than $1,000 stolen from woman’s truck

WORK-RELATED INJURY

•5:26 a.m., a man got his hand caught in a machine while working at Guardian Industries. The man had injuries to his left thumb and two fingers and was transported to St. Charles and then St. Vincent’s, 24000 block W. Moline Martin Road, Allen Township.

THEFT

•3:27 p.m., a woman said two tablets with sleeves, a mobile hotspot, an iPhone recharging cord, an mp3 player, an iTunes card and more than $200 in cash were stolen from the backseat of her truck, as well as attempted to hot-wire it but burnt out the starter. She believes the items were taken around April 11 or 12, when she was out of town for a bowling tournament and hadn’t noticed the vehicle was broken in to because she was using a different car. The value of the items stolen was around $800, 8900 block of West Hetrick Road, Salem Township.

ARREST

4:24 p.m., a Findlay man was arrested and charged with possession of drug abuse instruments, theft, criminal trespassing and driving under suspension, all misdemeanors. On Thursday afternoon, the suspect was filmed allegedly stealing a computer and other items from Wal-Mart and fleeing in a red Volkswagen before being apprehended by authorities from Port Clinton, Danbury Township and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. An officer found a syringe and bottom of a pop can with what appeared to be clear residue on one side and burn marks on the other inside the vehicle, along with the stolen computer. He had multiple warrants for his arrest and previous convictions, State Route 2 and State Route 53.

TRESSPASSING

•5:08 p.m., a couple said they have an ongoing problem with their neighbors who were putting up a privacy fence but continued to walk in their yard. The neighbor said he placed the fence a foot away from the property line to avoid problems and that he put it up so he could be left alone, 1100 block of S. Ottawa Drive, Portage Township.

ASSISTANCE

•9:05 p.m., a caller said he was not feeling suicidal but that he had been drinking, felt depressed and wanted to talk to someone. He was given information about the Giving Tree and said he would call them to get help, 4800 block of N. Billman Road, Allen Township.

•1:30 p.m., a caller asked to speak to an officer about a low hanging wire, 200 block of Oak St.

•4:06 p.m., a caller said a mowing crew was taking up several parking spaces, 200 block of Adams St.

THEFT

•5:31 p.m., a caller said someone stole her bicycle, 300 block of E. Seventh St.
